STORMSURGE® Access Assembly

 STORMSURGE® Access Assembly

Keep your covers where they belong.

The Problem

A major rain or tidal event can overload your storm/sewer systems, which can dislodge manhole covers. This creates a dangerous safety hazard for both motorists and pedestrians, especially if the area is submerged under flood waters and not visible.  This is also a serious concern for municipalities. The video to the left shows an example of underground water pressure during flooding powerful enough to remove the standard manhole cover.

The Solution

EJ has developed a manhole access assembly specifically designed to solve this problem. The STORMSURGE Access Assembly allows water to flow during a storm surge or backflow event. The cover can lift up to 16°, enabling water to flow out and relieve the pressure. The locking arm and hinge restrain the cover and allow it to automatically re-seat itself after the pressure returns to normal.
