Overview

These two Wet Well & Valve chambers were both cumbersome and hevy. What's worse was that with no vehicular access to the chambers, which meant no lifting equipment, and manual handling being the only option to gain access to the chambers.

Project Summary

With no vehicular access, all of the materials supplied to site had to be offloaded at the top of the road and carried down the steps to and from the site. We removed the existing 150mm heavy ductile iron covers and frames, and replaced them with our own bespoke fabricated steel covers. These covers were 100mm and 50mm, with integrated assist-lift components, safety grids and a padlockable section for additional security.

By using our innovative steel former design, it allowsfor easy replacement of the 50mm covers in the future without the need to break out the full 150mm depth. Concrtete backfill and a thorough clean on site left this job looking as amazing as any that we delighted to supply to the UK and beyond.

These covers are the perfect example of selecting the correct access cover for the correct location. The iron where durable and robust, were simply not fit for purpose on this particular site. With assisted opening and safety grids, the covers are now safe for a single operator to use and gain access to the chamber beneath.
